Several years ago, I had the esteemed privilege of meeting local author Gail Gallant. When I heard that she had just released her memoirs, I could barely contain my excitement. I knew I would have to grab a copy right away. Luckily, I found the book in the New Non-Fiction releases at our library. Once I started the book, I simply could not put it down.
I have never read a book that moved me the way "The Changeling" did. From start to finish this memoir is compelling, intriguing and just so unbelievably raw. For anyone that had a strict upbringing, or who grew up constantly striving to meet expectations, be them their parents or their own, Gail’s story is a reminder that it is ok to stray from the path your parents want for you and it’s ok to detour from the path you may believe to want for yourself.
For me personally, "The Changeling" was a reminder that it’s alright to feel a little lost along the way in life, and that sometimes the bumps and hiccups we experience strengthen us and helps us discover who we are and who we can become.
Place a hold on The Changeling.
