Library Student Page Book Reviews - For Teens By Teens
Hi! My name is Lily and I am a Student Page at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library. Today I will be writing a book review on the young adult novel The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han.
Summer is the one season every girl wishes for, for her secret romances to come true. Isabel is the shy girl who has been in love with the boy-next-door, Conrad, for her whole life. She can’t wait for the summer to be reunited with Susannah Fisher, her mother’s long-time best friend and her two sons at Cousins Beach. The only thing is this year couldn’t be more different. Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher always regarded Isabel with brotherly affection, but this year it turns to flirtation, which may just turn into love. Isabel is the innocent girl caught between the bad boy and the golden guy. Then the boyfriend comes along. But what’s love without a little triangle.
The Summer I Turned Pretty makes you feel like you are experiencing every adventure alongside Isabel. It takes you to carnivals and brings you midnight swimming. Every page is rich with best friends meddling, broken hearts, first kisses, and sand that just won’t settle. The gripping storyline mixed with a summertime vibe is perfect for anyone who loves laughter, drama, and a good sense of romance. As the first book in a trilogy, this read will leave you wanting more!
