Library of Things
Library collections have grown to include a variety of items for promoting recreation, fitness and digital literacy.
Our "Library of Things" is always growing and includes snowshoes, puzzles, iPads, Chromebooks, and other tech gear. Through a partnership with The Blue Mountains Creator Space, trained library patrons may borrow digital arts equipment.

Chromebooks are laptops based on Chrome OS operating system. They require internet access. They are perfect for surfing the internet. While you can "Browse as a Guest", you'll need to have a Google account (Gmail) to install any Chrome extensions like Google Docs or Google Classroom. They have a webcam and microphone, so you use them for videoconferencing, but you'll need a Google account to install an extension like Zoom. Chromebooks are available for 1-week loan to patrons who are 18-years-old and up and have signed the Technology Loan Agreement. Place a hold on a Chromebook. Patron under 18 may borrow a Chromebook for use in the library.
Creator Space Audio, Video and Sound Equipment
The Library is a partner with the Creator Space Digital Arts Lab. Members of the library who are credentialed by the Creator Space, may borrow technical equipment for 1-week loan. Equipment includes: Blackmagic Digital Cinema Camera Package, Canon 6D DSLR Photography Camera Kit, GoPro Fusion 360 Camera, Kodak PixPro 360 camera, LED Lights, Light Stands, Portable Sound Kit, Boom Mic Kit and Pole, Follow Focus Camera Rig, Video Tripod, Photo Tripod, Reflectors, SoftBoxes, and more. If you are interested in taking classes in using this equipment, visit the Creator Space Digital Arts Lab online.

DAISY Audiobook Reader for the Print Disabled
The DAISY Audiobook Readers play DAISY CDs for the print disabled. A print disability is a learning, physical or visual disability that prevents a person from reading conventional print. A print disability could be a learning disability, a physical disability or a visual disability.
DAISY CDs are available from CELA, the Centre for Equitable Library Access. CELA provides access to books, newspapers and magazines in formats that people with print disabilities can read, such as audio, digital text and braille.

Digital Camera Kits including 360 Video
All camera kits are available for 1-week loan to patrons in good standing aged 18 and up. Some kits require certification by the Creator Space Digital Arts Lab. All borrowers must sign the Technology Loan Agreement.
Canon EOS Rebel SL1 Camera Kit
Includes the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 camera, 3 lenses (55-250mm, 18-55mm, 40mm), battery, charger, 2 instruction manuals, 32GB SD card, and a carrying case. The SL1 is small in size but captures high quality photo and video. Place a hold on the Canon EOS SL1. There are lots of ways to learn how to use this camera. Canon 6D DSLR Photography Camera Kit
Includes a Canon 6D full frame DSLR camera, Canon EF lens 24mm-105mm (SN 3312524), 3 Canon LPE6 batteries, camera bag, Canon dual battery holder (SN 2000000235), Canon battery charger, and USB LPE6 battery charger. Place a hold on the Canon 6D DSLR Photography Camera Kit. Borrowing this kit requires certification through the Creator Space Digital Arts Lab. Creator Space members must have Digital Photography & Digital Video Advanced level certification. You can obtain this certification by taking the Online Proficiency Test for the Canon 6D DSLR Camera, which includes instructional videos.
Kodak 360 Video Camera Kit
Includes a Kodak PixPro Orbit 360 Camera, internal Kodak battery, 128GB ScanDisk MicroSD Card, Kodak battery charger, USB cable, PixPro Mini tripod with screw mount, PixPro remote control, Micro SD to SD card adaptor, instruction manual, lens cloth in Nanuk 904 hard case. A green screen and supporting hardware are available for 1 week loan. Place a hold on the Green Screen Kit.
Digital Projector and Portable Screen
Digital projectors are available for loan at L.E. Shore Library. Place a hold on the Epson PowerLite 1925W.
Portable Projection Screen
A portable projection screen (60" x 60") is available for loan. The projector screen is not available for loans at this time.

Grey Sauble Conservation Pass
These Day-Use Passes are available for a 1 week loan, no renewals, and are available until December 31st. Passes are available for pick-up at both L.E. Shore Library & Craigleith Heritage Depot. Day-Use Passes provide access for one vehicle and its occupants at 22 Grey Sauble Conservation properties: Ainslie Wood, Arboretum & Administration Centre, Arran Lake, Bognor Marsh, Bruce's Caves, Christie Beach, Colpoy's Lookout, Clendenan, Eugenia Falls, Feversham Gorge & Madeleine Graydon, Hepworth, Hibou, Indian Falls, Inglis Falls, Epping-John Muir Lookout, Kemble Mountain, Massie Hills, Old Baldy, Pottawatomi & Jones Falls, Spirit Rock & McNeill Estate, The Glen, and West Rocks. iPads are available for 1-week loan and for 3-hour loan at L.E. Shore Library. Library patrons 18-years-old and up, who have signed the Technology Loan Agreement may borrow an iPad for 1 week.
iPads (1 week loan and 3 hour loan)
iPad tablets (10.2-inch) are loaded with apps for children: Minecraft, Roblox, YouTube Kids, Subway Surfer, PBS Kids (4+), Cut the Rope (4+), Kahn Academy for Kids (2-8), Elmo Loves 123s (4+), and AniMatch (4+). While these are great for kids, they have Safari, Camera, Facetime, Libby, hoopla Digital and all the basic apps. Place a hold on an iPad.
iPad 10.2-inch with Apple Pencil (1 week loan)
iPad tablet with Apple Pencil and Adobe design apps and Procreate. Place a hold on the iPad with Apple Pencil.
iPad Pro 12.9" 512GB model with Apple Pencil (1 week loan)
iPad tablet with Apple Pencil and design apps, including Abode apps and Procreate. Available through the Blue Mountains Creator Space to library patrons. Place a hold on the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil.

Oculus Go Virtual Reality Standalone Headset

Note: Oculus Go headsets are designed for users 13 years old and up.
"This product is not a toy and should not be used by children under the age of 13, as the headset is not sized for children and improper sizing can lead to discomfort or adverse health effects, and younger children are in a critical period in visual development. Adults should make sure children (age 13 and older) use the headset in accordance with these health and safety warnings including making sure the headset is used as described in the Before Using the Headset section and the Safe Environment section. Adults should monitor children (age 13 and older) who are using or have used the headset for any of the symptoms described in these health and safety warnings (including those described under the Discomfort and Repetitive Stress Injury sections), and should limit the time children spend using the headset and ensure they take breaks during use. Prolonged use should be avoided, as this could negatively impact hand-eye coordination, balance, and multi-tasking ability. Ontario Parks Passes
Explore the great outdoors with an Ontario Parks Pass! Some kits come with a backpack full of hiking essentials. There are 6 Day-Use Passes available for a 1 week loan, no renewals, and are available until December 31st. Passes are available for pickup at both L.E. Shore Library & Craigleith Heritage Depot. Day-Use Passes provide access for one vehicle and its occupants at more than 100 provincial parks where fees are normally charged. Place a hold on an Ontario Parks Pass.

Our tech toys are designed to facilitate learning and play. Each kit comes with a piece of new technology, instructions, and ideas for activities. Any patron in good standing can borrow a kit for 3 weeks. There is no requirement to complete the Tech Loan Agreement.
