Upcoming Family Programs

Posted by Jennifer on March 2, 2021

Looking for some fun family programs? We got you covered!

Thursday, March 18th, we are having a family star party! Join BMPL and Ian Wheelband from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada for a fun-filled virtual night under the stars, from the comfort of your own home. Ian will share tips on how to enjoy the night sky using your unaided eye, binoculars, and small telescopes! Ian will also share his knowledge about telescopes and binoculars, and let you know what tools you need to make your very own "Star Bag." There will be plenty of time for questions and answers, so make sure to bring any questions you may have for Ian!

We will also chat about keeping the night skies dark and a Citizen Science project where your family can be scientists (yes, really!) and contribute real research from your backyard.

Join us over ZOOM for a fun, engaging, and informative evening. This is a wonderful opportunity for young aspiring astronomers to learn some tips, ask questions and learn about the stars above them.

All ages welcome. Register here for Family Astronomy Night.

If you have enjoyed our RASC programs, check out Through The Telescope, Thursday April 18th.

April Break 2021

Registration for BMPL April Break is now OPEN. Join us for a super fun-filled week of virtual science experiments! Spaces are limited, and are offered on a first come, first served basis.

We will be creating Elephant toothpaste, colored rocks, sun catcher slime and so much more! Every day is a different science experiment and lots of fun. We will prepare a science kit with just about everything you need. What we don't provide are simple ingredients that are typically found around the house. Every activity kit will include special supplies and a common materials list, as well as detailed instructions. You can also head on over to our BMPL YouTube Channel at 1:00 pm and look for our Magical Science instructional videos and follow along with us as we guide you through the craft.

It is recommended that all science experiments are supervised by an adult. Register here for the week .

Scavenger Hunt

Our March Scavenger Hunt is up and ready to go! Next time you're out on a walk stop by the L.E.Shore Library and see if you can find the lucky Leprechaun, his pot of gold and other fun St. Paddy's Day themed images in our windows. How do you play?
