Community Hubs

  • Craigleith Heritage Depot Roof Update: The roof at the CHD has been completed and we are looking forward to the other exterior renovations occurring later this year.
  • Go Vaxx Bus: The Go Vaxx bus is onsite today at L.E. Shore until 7pm. If you require vaccination 1, 2, boosters, or a pediatric needle, they are here to assist. Walk-ins welcome!

Empowering Services 

  • Municipal Arts Program Now Open! The application deadline for the 2022 MAP is approaching. Complete your application for exhibiting by the end of May 2022. You may also want to watch for our 2023 exhibit schedule for L.E. Shore which opens in June.
  • Programming Returns to In-person: While BMPL will continue to offer some of our programs virtually, many of our programs have begun meeting in person. Our Teen Advisory Group (TAG), Tween Advisory Group (TwAG), Weekly Exercise, Kids Clubhouse, and Family Story Time have all returned to in person.   • Intergenerational Programs Added to BMPL Line Up: Intergenerational programming continues to grow in popularity. These all-age programs include interactive presentations and/or workshops designed for young and old alike. Monthly programs will be offered intended for all-ages [ES1.8].
  • French Materials Added: French eBooks and digital audiobooks are now part of the BMPL collection. Patrons can read or listen to French titles on a computer, eReader, smartphone or tablet. The Cantook Station collection includes eBooks and digital audiobooks for all ages, some written by Francophone authors, others translations of popular English-speaking authors. Browse the collection today! This collection was added based on requests during our Strategic Plan Consultations.

Organizational Excellence 

  • Strategic Plan 2022-2026 Approved: The BMPL Strategic Plan Summary will be delivered to all household mailboxes in the coming weeks as part of The Review mailer. If you have not received your copy in early June, you may also stop by either of our locations for additional copies.
  • Strategic Plan Presented in Deputation to Council: At the May 16th Committee of the Whole meeting, the Chair and CEO presenting the BMPL Strategic Plan 2022-2026 to Council. This deputation is available on the TBM site
  • Board Planning Day: Annually in May, the Board holds a planning day. Due to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), this meeting was closed session for the first part of the day. The main topics were the development of Key Supporters who would act as BMPL advocates, the Legacy document to assist in the orientation of the incoming Board 2022-2026, and a proposal to Council on how BMPL can support Council in its BMPL Board recruitment and/or selection process.
  • Action Plan 2022: The Action Plan 2022 was reviewed and updated for 2022 objectives to be accomplished. 110 Action Items are included on this Action Plan and address areas across the new Strategic Plan pillars and goals.
  • Volunteers Wanted! Over the pandemic many of our volunteer opportunities had to be halted, but we are now ready to get back to being a volunteer opportunity for people of all ages and interests. Volunteerism includes formal positions which are scheduled weekly, offering skills and expertise from time to time, and youth volunteerism such as the high school volunteer hours or co-op placements.   • Arts & Culture Council Call for Applicants: The ACC is holding open applications to join this committee. The ACC members meet monthly and are responsible for selecting artists to show in The Gallery at L.E. Shore and the Municipal Arts Program. They also provide ongoing programming as part of the ACC Presents series. Deadline for applications is July 3rd. 
  • Audit of the BMPL 2021 Financial Statements: The Board approved the audit for 2021. This document, when received in its final version, will be posted on our website with the link to the 2021 Year in Review.
