Posted by Wanda on January 27, 2016
For the month of February, the Arts Advisory Council presents World War II Poster Art, an exhibit for the month of February that showcases World War II posters that have been curated by Dan Field of DanField Antiques.
The opening reception will take place on Saturday, February 6th from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm with Dan Field of DanField Antiques in attendance to answer questions. The posters are powerful storytellers of the wartime era, providing perspective on the usage of propaganda for both increasing support for the war and rallying citizens for victory. The subject matter includes references to specific battles, triumphs, tragedies and strategies to help with the war effort. The collection was originally kept and stored by Colonel Louis Keene, commanding officer of the Lorne Rifles Regiment of Oakville Ontario.
World War II Poster Art will be exhibiting from Feb 1st to Feb 29th during regular library hours. The L.E. Shore Library is open seven days a week; Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00-5:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00-8:00pm, and Sunday from 12:00-4:00pm. For more information about this exhibit please contact the L.E.Shore Memorial Library in Thornbury at 519-599-3681.
