Painting with the Past 2
Posted by Wanda on June 5, 2015
The L.E. Shore Memorial Library and the Arts Advisory Council is excited to welcome Painting with the Past 2, a group exhibition held June, July, and August featuring art work by 11 different area artists. The opening reception, with artists in attendance, will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 2:00-4:00pm.
Group organizer Angela Plesa explains the concept of the show: "Artists in this exhibition have looked to the past, sifting through notable historical markers, looking for imagery that might add to a personal vision. There are numerous sources of inspiration represented in the exhibit; art of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Modern Art, 1950’s popular culture, film culture, and even the ‘selfie’ as portrait."
Painting with the Past 2 will be exhibiting from June 6 to August 30th during regular library hours.
The L.E. Shore Memorial Library Gallery in Thornbury is a beautiful, vaulted exhibition space that hosts monthly exhibits by both individuals and groups. Exhibit proposals are reviewed and selected by the Arts Advisory Council and are always welcome.
