“As an avid gardener from an early age, flowers are a perfect choice for me as a theme for this show. I love colour; exploring painting from this perspective gives me plenty of scope. Flowers make me happy, as does painting them, large or small, realistic or abstract, in oil, watercolour or acrylic, as a single flower, as a group, or in a landscape. I am grateful for the opportunity to show what has been my passion since moving to Thornbury three years ago”
Residing in Grey County for fifteen years, Judy Moore began her artistic career as a potter, creating functional pieces and large, sculptural installations. In recent years, Judy has concentrated on silversmithing, textiles, collage, and painting in watercolour, acrylic and oil. Judy refers to herself as “an emerging older artist”.
Judy Moore studied at various art centres, including OCAD, Haliburton School of Art, and under the tutelage of Willi Wildman. Her upcoming show at the L. E. Shore Memorial Gallery features large, colourful floral oil paintings on canvas, reminiscent of Matisse and O’Keefe. Judy is also displaying her original silver jewellery.
