Celebrating Ontario Public Libraries as cultural centres: singing our stories...
Canada has a rich heritage of oral history and musical narrative! On October 24th, 7:00 pm, in the Gallery at L.E. Shore, singer-songwriter David Newland will be performing The Northwest Passage in Story and Song.
David Newland is a veteran performer on the Ontario folk scene, who also works as an expedition host and Zodiac driver with Adventure Canada. Combining photography, storytelling, and live original songs, David’s performance conveys the emotional and spiritual impact of Arctic travel. You may have heard David on CBC Radio; his latest album ‘Northbound: The Northwest Passage in Story and Song’, was released this year. Visit David's website
In 2015 David Newland was named a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a distinction reflecting a lifetime of engagement with landscape and story.
