Location: The Gallery at L. E. Shore Library.
A hands-on activity in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
The Blanket Exercise is a hands-on way to explore the nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous peoples, a way to work toward reconciliation and to empower people to build bridges of understanding and respect. Participants will gain an understanding of colonization and the impact it had on Indigenous peoples and the land.
Strong White Buffalo Woman, Elder - Ojibway of the Saugeen and a team of facilitators from Grace United Church will lead the exercise. Explore the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous in Canada, understand how it has been damaged over the years, and learn how together we can work toward reconciliation.
The Craigleith Heritage Depot will be displaying the Pendleton Turtle Blanket from the Wyandot of Oklahoma.
