As of April 2, BMPL is open for curbside pickup only. Visit the Library during opening hours and ring the doorbell. Staff will open the door and place your holds on a table.
How do I order my materials?
Patrons may login to the "My Account" on the website or go directly to our catalogue and order any items, including equipment. If you do not have access to internet, you may call us during our 2020/2021 pandemic hours (found on our website) and a staffer will be happy to assist you with placing the hold. You may also use our online Library Materials Request Form to place a hold for curbside pickup.
How do I pick up my materials?
An email will be sent to you once your materials are available for pick up. If you do not have an email on file with BMPL, we will phone you.
What should I expect when I retrieve my materials?
Once you have received an email that your materials are available, you have one week to visit your branch of choice to pick up the materials. Please come to the parking lot door of L.E. Shore or the Craigleith Heritage Depot main door. If others are waiting, please queue and wait in your car so we all stay warm and healthy! Ring the bell and a staff will come to the door. They will then grab your items, check them out, and contact trace the visit while you wait outside at the door, and then place them on a table where you can grab them. The table will be wiped down and sanitized between patron pickups for your safety.
Can I return items?
All materials, with the exception of technology, can be returned to either of the three drop boxes. There is one at the Craigleith Heritage Depot and one at each entry of the L.E. Shore Library. As usual, these materials will be quarantined for no less than 3 days before they are actually checked on and removed from your account. No late fees will be charged for this delay. To return tablets, laptops and other technology, visit the library during opening hours and ring the doorbell.
What is the Library doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through the curbside holds program?
We have designed a contact-free curbside holds program. Library staff maintain social distancing while working at the library, wear personal protective equipment, wash their hands at least every 45 minutes, and routinely disinfect and sanitize work areas. Books and other materials returned to the library are quarantined for at least 72 hours to prevent spread of the virus.
How can I get a library card?
If you already have an account with the library but cannot find your card, call or email us and we will get back to you with your account information. New members may complete our online form to apply for a 90-day temporary membership.
Where can I get help using your online catalogue?
We have created instructional videos on using our catalogue. Watch My Library Account (for desktop and laptop computers) or My Library Account (for iPads, smart phones and tablets) on YouTube. For more help, call or email us and we will assist you.
