Our branches may be closed, but our collection is still here for you! Curbside pickup is now available at the parking lot entrance of L.E. Shore Library. When you visit, don't forget to browse our window displays to discover new and interesting parts of the collection!
How It Works
1. Place Your Holds
Place books, movies, magazines and other library materials on hold by:
- visiting our online catalogue
- calling us at 519-599-3681
- emailing email@example.com
- completing the Curbside Library Materials Request Form
2. We Will Email or Call You When Your Hold is Ready
You will receive an email notification or library staff will call you when your hold is ready and let you know when you can pick it up. If you do not receive an email or telephone call, your hold will not be waiting.
3. Pick Up Your Holds at the Parking Lot Entrance of L.E. Shore Library
Pick up your holds at the parking lot entrance of the L.E. Shore Library on: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am-4pm. When you come to retrieve your holds, they will already be checked out to you. Open the bin with your last name and take out your materials. Leave the bin. All overdue fines will be waived under further notice.
4. Maintain Social Distancing
Remain at least 2 metres away from others outside of the Library. Wait your turn at a safe distance if others are retrieving their holds.
What is the Library doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through the curbside holds program?
We have designed a contact-free curbside holds program. Library staff maintain social distancing while working at the library, wear personal protective equipment, wash their hands at least every 45 minutes, and routinely disinfect and sanitize work areas. Books and other materials returned to the library are quarantined for 72 hours to prevent spread of the virus. Using a separate bin for each patron also reduces the possibility your materials have been accidentally touched by someone else. Bins are disinfected after each use.
How can I get a library card?
If you already have an account with the library but cannot find your card, call or email us and we will get back to you with your account information. New members may complete our online form to apply for a 90-day temporary membership.
Where can I get help using your online catalogue?
We have created instructional videos on using our catalogue. Watch My Library Account (for desktop and laptop computers) or My Library Account (for iPads, smart phones and tablets) on YouTube. For more help, call or email us and we will assist you.
How long do I have to pick up my holds?
You will have two curbside pickup days to collection your materials. Pickup days are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Let library staff know if you need an extension.
When are my materials due?
Loan periods are 3 weeks for books, magazines and puzzles, and 1 week for movies. The loan period starts the day you are notified your hold is available and we check it out in your name.
Where do I return books and movies?
You may return library materials in the book drop in the parking lot of the L.E. Shore Library. Technology loans must be returned directly to a staff member at a pre-arranged time. All overdue fines will be waived until further notice.
Can I pick up holds at the Craigleith Heritage Depot?
No, at the time there is no curbside pick up available at the Craigleith Heritage Depot.
