Borrowing Materials from the Library

Join the Library to borrow library materials. Here are some common questions about borrowing materials from the Library:
How do I search the collection?
Search the library catalogue for print and digital books, movies, magazines, and tech gadgets.
Visit our Virtual Branch to browse all our digital resources, including research databases and digital archives.
How long can I keep a loan?
Movies: 1 week, 3 renewals (provided the item is not on hold for another patron)
New Books: 3 weeks, 3 renewals (provided the item is not on hold for another patron)
Books and other print materials: 3 weeks, 3 renewals (provided the item is not on hold for another patron)
Non-circulating: reference materials, archival materials, rare books and the current issue of magazines do not circulate.
Interlibrary Loans: 5 weeks, or as set by lending institution, no renewals
Technology and other non-traditional materials: lending periods vary
If library materials are not returned by their due date, late charges apply.
How much are late charges?
There are no late charges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Where can I return materials?
Please return all materials (except technology loans) to the RETURN bins located at L.E. Shore Library and Craigleith Heritage Depot. To minimize damage, please be careful when placing DVDs and CDs in the drop boxes. Sorry, but materials from the Blue Mountains Public Library may not be returned to other public libraries.
