Support Your Library

People who use and support their local public library serve as valuable advocates for libraries, literacy and lifelong learning. If you wish to help others who share your love of books and if you believe in the great tradition of the Public Library, please consider a simple way you can open doors and minds by making a donation, bequest or legacy. You will be investing in a valuable community resource that benefits present and future generations. We can acknowledge your generosity and provide you with an Income Tax Receipt for donations.

Honour with Books

This program offers a unique and distinctive way to pay tribute to someone you love, a family member, colleague or friend - on the occasion of a birthday, an anniversary or, as a memorial. A dedication bookplate will be placed inside the book. Your donation will enable the Library to purchase items we could not otherwise afford and will provide hours of pleasure and enjoyment for everyone in your community. Donations can be made at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library or mailed to Box 580, 173 Bruce St. South, Thornbury, ON N0H 2P0.

Planned Giving

Public funding supports libraries, but often it is private gifts that make them flourish. The L.E. Shore Memorial Library in one of your community’s most trusted and treasured institutions. What better way to secure it’s future than making a planned gift to your library. Planned gifts can mean making gift today, or planning now to make a gift in the future.

Making a planned gift will benefit and support your wishes. These could include special programs and services, support for future branch libraries, capital projects, endowments, or you can designate gifts to two or more areas.

Your giving options include:

Book Donations

The Library accepts gifts and donations of books and other materials in good repair. The Library reserves the right to evaluate and dispose of them in accordance with the guidelines applied to purchased materials. No condition may be imposed on the Library in its acceptance of materials. Please note: we are not able to issue tax receipts for donations of books.

If you are donating more than 5 books, please call the library before you drop them off. We are not able to store or dispose of large numbers of books.

What else can I do with my books?

The Beaver Valley Outreach Treasure Shop will accept books in good condition. Call BVO at 519-599-2577 ext. 24 for details.

Other options:

Please consider recycling damaged books, out-of-date non-fiction books, and old magazines in your blue bin.
