Library Services Return to L.E. Shore Memorial Library on Saturday, December 10

We're back in business on Bruce Street at 10am on the morning of Saturday, December 10th! Our temporary Town Hall location will be closing on Sunday, December 4th. Library staff are spending the week of December 5-9 moving back into L.E. Shore and the Craigleith Heritage Depot will be open all week. Trichromacy Art Exhibit Opening Reception
Our December/January show features the work of Carol Hahn, Tanya Zaryski and Kate Civiero. Join us Saturday, December 10, 2-4 pm for the grand opening. Trichromacy or trichromaticism is the possessing of three independent channels for conveying color information. On display will be pieces in a variety of media, including glass, ceramic and paint. Beautiful to see!

Toddler Story Time: Every Friday @ 10:45-11:30am
Join us every Friday for a great way to start your weekend! Every week is a different theme and will feature stories, rhymes, songs and crafts for tots.

Baby Play Time: Every Friday @ 1:00-1:30pm
Hands-on play time dedicated to helping infants build up their sensory experiences. An adult must accompany children. Ages 0-24 months. This is a drop-in program.

L.E. Shore Library Story Time @ Olde Fashioned Christmas: Saturday, December 10 @ 2:00pm
It is the 40th Anniversary of Olde Fashioned Christmas in Thornbury! The Blue Mountains Public Library will be giving a special holiday storytime and craft hour at 2pm at the Beaver Valley Community Centre. Lots of great events happening around town that day, including the tree lighting and Santa!

Winter Break Crafternoon: Wednesday, December 28 @ 2:00-3:00pm
It's the Holidays! Join us for a Drop-In Crafternoon in the Gallery. We will be making winter crafts and getting ready for 2017. This is a free program but please register in advance.

Winter Break Games & Lego: Thursday, December 29 @ 2:00-3:00pm
Spend your Winter Break at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library. Bring the family and have an afternoon of fun with Lego, board games, Play Doh, puzzles, and more! This is a free program but please register in advance.

New iCloud for iPad Class
We are pleased to announce part 4 in our series of iPad classes: iCloud for iPad. Learn some of the basics about iCloud, including backing up your iPad and photo sharing through iCloud with instructor Darrell Noseworthy. This is a 2-hour class with a maximum of 6 people and the cost is $15. For more experienced iPad users! To register you must have taken iPad Basics part 1. At the Craigleith Heritage Depot

Winter Open House: Wednesday, December 7 @ 6:00-8:00pm
The Craigleith Heritage Depot is partnering with Shale Rock Coffee House for a Winter Open House, and everyone is welcome! We’ll have treats, warm drinks, music, historic (and modern) board games, holiday decorations, and plenty of opportunities to meet neighbors / members of the community. Free event, all ages.

Starry Winter Nights: Wednesday, December 28 & Wednesday, January 4 @ 6:00-8:00pm
Do you want to know more about the winter skies above you? Drop in at the Craigleith Heritage Depot to learn about the history of reading the stars. Gaze up at those same stars from the Depot's fantastic front deck. Optional: bring your smartphone or tablet to make use of an astronomy application to help you spot constellations. An iPad will be available for attendees to try. Please dress for the weather. Donations are always welcome. This program is all ages.

Then & Now Online History Project: Update
The Craigleith Heritage Depot’s staff continue to conduct interviews with community members to add more videos to the “Then & Now” website. You can enjoy the videos that are already online by visiting the website: http://thebluemountainshistory.ca/

Writing Your Life History: Thank You
Thank you to the amazing group that participated in the November 2016 “Writing Your Life History” 5-week course led by local artist and author John Fisher. Everyone contributed greatly to the success of this workshop and many powerful stories were told. If you are interested in participating in the course in the future, please let a staff member know and you will be placed on a waiting list.
