Library Staff Announcement

Please join us in welcoming the new team.

Manager of Technical and Virtual Services: Elisa Chandler. Elisa was promoted internally to our leadership team. Elisa holds a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University and a Masters in Library and Information Science with the University of Western Ontario. Elisa has over ten years of library experience including a year as CEO of the Meaford Library and over five years at the Coordinator of Technical Services at the Blue Mountains Public Library.

Manager of Public Services: Emma Barker. Emma was promoted internally to our leadership team. Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts from York University and is completing her Library & Information Technician Program from Mohawk College.  Emma has over six years’ experience at the Blue Mountains Public Library as the Library Assistant, Desk and Administrative Services.

Museum Curator: Andrea Wilson. Andrea joins us with over twenty-five years of Curator experience. Andrea holds a Museum Technology Diploma from Algonquin College and is currently pursuing her Canadian Studies Degree with York University. Andrea’s experience includes Curator of the Fort Erie Museum Service, Program Assistant for the Ball’s Falls Conservation Area and Curator of St. Mary’s Museum. Andrea is an active volunteer in her community including 6 years serving as a volunteer member on the St. Catharines Arts and Culture Committee.

Museum Assistant: Madeline Smolarz. Madeline joins us with over five years’ experience working in a variety of Museum settings. Madeline holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of Ottawa and a Master of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. Madeline’s experience includes Editor in Chief of Musings: the Master of Museum Studies Student Blog, Programs Intern at the Bytown Museum, and Education Volunteer at the Royal Ontario Museum. She is currently serving on the organizing committee for the 2016 Ontario Museum Association Conference.

Circulation Assistant: Alexandra Noble. Alexandra joins us with five years’ experience working in a public Library. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Laurentian University. Her work experience includes five years with the Wasaga Beach Public Library as a Library Assistant and a role as the Regional Coordinator of the CAP Program for the Ontario Library Association.

Circulation Assistant: Desiree Garrison. Desiree joins us over thirteen years’ experience working in a Public Library. She holds a Certificate in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan and studied Business Administration at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Desiree was the Library Assistant at Leduc Public Library in Leduc Alberta for thirteen years.

Program Assistant: Maureen McKillop. Maureen joins us with over five years of programming experience. Maureen holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Wilfred Laurier University, a Master’s of Science in Education from D’Youville College and is currently enrolling in the University of Alberta Masters in Library and Information Services. Maureen was the Technology Education Program Intern for the Clearview Public Library and has held teaching assignments across Bluewater District School Board. Maureen has experience working with and programming for children and youth in the field of mental health and early childhood education.

Collection Assistant: Helene Schofield. Helene has moved from her casual role of Library Assistant to the permanent role of Collections Assistant. Previous to her working experience Helene was a valued volunteer with our Library for over eight years.

Arts Advisory Council Assistant: Wanda Haayen. Wanda has moved from her temporary contract of Library Assistant to the permanent role of Arts Advisory Council Assistant. Wanda holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, English Literature from Trent University, Fine Arts Diploma from the Ontario College of Art and Design University and a Library and Information Technician Diploma from Seneca College. Wanda’s experience includes her time at the Blue Mountains Public Library, Assistant Branch Supervisor for the Wellington County Library, Library Assistant and Curator for the Waterloo Regional Law Association Law Library.
