Canada Day Eve Party at the Beaver Valley Community Centre - Friday, June 30 at 4:30pm – 9:30pm
Kick off your Canada Day 150 weekend with us! This outdoor party will be hosted by the Blue Mountains Public Library, the Town of the Blue Mountains and the Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club. Featuring Black Angus BBQ, a Culinary Designs taco stand, a beer tent from Creemore Springs and Ardiel Cider House, face-painting, interactive children’s activities, amazing local band Graham Playford and the Flying J’s and a large fireworks display at Tomahawk to end the evening.

The Blue Mountains Public Library is celebrating all things Canadian to mark our country’s 150th anniversary and Naturally Blue is June’s theme.

Canada 150 Naturally Blue Art Class - Thursday June 8, 2017 at 2:00-3:00pm             
Join local artist, Carlo Gallina, at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library for an afternoon of natural arts & crafts. Design and make your own art from nature. Making art from nature involves using elements of our natural landscape (such as leaves, sticks, stones, etc) in a creative way to make new art. The resulting artwork makes a statement about both nature and our relationship with nature. $5.00 per person. Limited space. Please register in advance.

Lady Sky: Author Talk with Ashley Green - Tuesday June 13 at 10:00am-11:00am (Primary) and 11:45am-12:45pm (Intermediate)
Ashley Green is a local artist and children's book author. Her first book, Emerald Lake, was so well-received that she wrote and illustrated another one entitled Lady Sky. Lady Sky is all about inspiring kindness and problem solving creatively. We will be hosting over 100 students at L.E. Shore Memorial Library from BVCS and there are spaces for members of the public. Please register online for the 10:00am session or for the 11:45am session.

The Craigleith Heritage Depot will have two very special events for the Father’s Day Weekend that is a perfect way to share the love of the outdoors with your dad.

Kayak Nature Tour - Saturday June 17 at 10:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm    
Learn interesting facts about the formation of the Niagara escarpment and Georgian Bay as you kayak around the island off Craigleith with a Free Spirit Tour guide. All equipment supplied. Park and meet at Northwinds Beach. Afterwards visit the Craigleith Heritage Depot to learn more about this amazing area. $55.00 per person, 8 people maximum per tour. Pre-registration is required; email depot@thebluemountains.ca or call 519-599-3681 ext 370.

Fossils on Father’s Day at Delphi Point - Sunday June 18 at 10:00-11:00am           
Join Monica Norris, Museum Assistant, as she takes you on a tour of the Delphi Point fossils beds. Bring your watershoes and enjoy our ancient history. New exhibit plaques with touch tables have been placed to help explore this park. Pre-registration required; email Monica at depot@thebluemountains.ca or call 519-599-3681 ext 370. $5.00 per family, but no charge for Dad!
An Afternoon with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry - Thursday June 22 at 2:00-3:30pm and 3:30-4:30pm
The L.E. Shore Library Homeschool Group and After-School Kids Club will both have an afternoon with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry. They will have various animal furs & skulls and will be talking about what kinds of animals you might see in our area and how to identify tracks...there might even be a stuffed black bear. The 2pm session is open to the public. Please register online for the 2:00pm session.

Family Fridays at L.E. Shore Memorial Library
Toddler Story Time (10:45am-11:30am) Every week is a different theme and will feature stories and crafts for tots. Drop-in program.
Baby Play Time (1-1:30pm). Hands-on play time dedicated to helping infants build up their sensory experiences. Ages 0-24 months. Drop-in program
Father’s Day Weekend Events

Painting With The Past is an ongoing project organized, and curated by Angela Plesa (Nottawa). This is the third exhibition at the Blue Mountain Library over a six year period. The thirteen artists involved in this exhibition are local, including the Barrie area. Each artist has a personal vision, which has been expressed using a variety of materials including paint, wire, fabric, handmade paper, rock, and found objects. The show will be exhibiting June 2 to 29th at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library Gallery. The opening receiption is Saturday, June 3 from 2:00-4:00pm.
