Win a Week Away at Summer Camp! 
Play the Summer Camp Scavenger Hunt at L.E. Shore Memorial Library and be entered into a draw to win one week at Camp Presqu’ile. Ages 6-14 years. Prize graciously donated by Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club. Winner to be announced at the Canada Day’s Eve Party at the Beaver Valley Community Centre (June 30th 4:30-9:30pm.) The Summer Camp Scavenger Hunt will run until May 31st.

Earthenware Everywhere - May exhibit at the Craigleith Heritage Depot
The Craigleith Heritage Depot will be celebrating Canada 150 with “Clay the Canadian Way”. Our exhibit for the month of May will be Earthenware Everywhere; a look at the history and impressions made by this malleable natural resource, local to the Blue Mountains area. From delicate indigenous pipes to elaborate Blue Mountain Pottery, clay has shaped the lives of many people in the area, and all over the world.

Show, Tell and Create after-school program - Wednesday, May 3 from 3:30-5pm at the Craigleith Heritage Depot
The after-school program Show, Tell and Create is Wednesday May 3rd from 3:30-5:00pm, and will have the theme “play with clay”. Impress Mom by making a fridge magnet in the shape of a heart for Mother’s Day!

Opening reception - Saturday, May 6 at 2-4pm

Framed drawings and large abstracts bring an explosion of colour and line to the Gallery in May. Show runs for the month of May. José comments on his work, "In these paintings, I overlap several images, using my own language to interpret and communicate what you are seeing. The resulting paintings are unpredictable; I enjoy that creative risk, as I can guide the process. The results just happen, as things do in real life”.

Community Cookbook: Come to our Table Social Evening - Thursday, May 25 at 6:30pm
The Community Cookbook Team, the Blue Mountains Public Library and Arts Advisory Council are hosting a Community Cookbook: Come to our Table Social Evening at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library on Thursday May 25th. Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at L.E. Shore Memorial Library or Craigleith Heritage Depot. Enjoy sample appetizers from the cookbook, a beverage from Duxbury Cider or Coffin Ridge, live music from local musician Krista Currie, and brief talks from Bruce Wine Bar, Sideroad Farm, Kolapore Gardens, artist, Stephen Corner, and local poet, Elizabeth Zetlin plus more of the cookbook contributors. This evening will celebrate local farmers, restaurants, artists, storytellers, cideries/wineries and culture.

Author Talk with Eric Walters - Wednesday, May 24 at 10:45am
We are thrilled to be hosting novelist, Eric Walters at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library. Walters is an award-winning children’s author who has written over 100 books for youth, and has visited hundreds of schools in Canada to inform children about his writing process and to help motivate young people to read novels. We have over 30 of his junior novels in our collection. We will be hosting 50 students from BVCS, the Library Homeschool Group and members of the public. Space is limited. Please register online. This is a partnership initiative with Meaford Public Library and Beaver Valley Community School.

Costa Rica Calling: Tales from the Bruce Trail Conservancy Friendship Trail - Tuesday, May 30 at 7pm at L.E. Shore Memorial Library
Ros Rossetti and Mike Osborn will introduce the Friendship Trail in Costa Rica that is linked with the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail. Find out about the worldwide Friendship Trail Program and share the adventures of committed Bruce Trail volunteers who helped improve and extend the Sendero Pacifico Trail – the Pacific Slope Trail. Presented by the Arts Advisory Council.

Pottery Class - Wednesday, May 31 from 3pm-5pm
2017 is all about Canada 150, 12 months, 12 themes. May’s theme is Clay the Canadian Way. Have you always wanted to try pottery? Sign up for a beginner class at the L.E. Shore Library with local potters, Carol Hahn and Tanya Zaryski, and learn how to make your own pottery leaf bowl (includes learning how to use a pottery wheel!) $5/person. Limited spaces, please register online.

Save the Date! Canada’s Day Eve Party at the Beaver Valley Community Centre - Friday, June 30 at 4:30pm
This outdoor party will be hosted by the Blue Mountains Public Library, the Town of the Blue Mountains and the Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club. Featuring Black Angus BBQ, a Culinary Designs Taco Stand, a beer tent from Creemore Springs and Ardiel Cider House, face-painting, interactive children’s activities, an amazing local band Graham Playford and the Flying J’s and a large fireworks display at Tomahawk to end the evening. Kick off your Canada Day weekend with us!

Family Fridays at L.E. Shore Memorial Library
Toddler Story Time (10:45am-11:30am). Every week is a different theme and will feature stories and crafts for tots. Drop-in program.
Baby Play Time (1-1:30pm). Hands-on play time dedicated to helping infants build up their sensory experiences. Ages 0-24 months. Drop-in program.

The new OverDrive is a completely refreshed website and app experience that makes your digital library faster and easier to use than ever before. Enhancements include: new ways to find titles, simple availability banners, and account-level audience filters.
