L.E. Shore Library to close for roof repairs

Posted: by Elisa on October 3, 2016

L.E. Shore Memorial Library is closing effective Tuesday, October 4 for roof repairs. We will re-open on Tuesday, October 11 at Town Hall. Read below for details.

Library Announces Temporary Relocation

THORNBURY, ON – October 3, 2016 – The Blue Mountains Public Library Board today announced that the L. E. Shore Memorial Library Facility will be temporarily closed, beginning October 4th, to allow for the repair of the flat roof sections of the building.

How Long Will the Library Be Closed?

The Library will be relocating to Council Chambers at the Town of The Blue Mountains Town Hall. Relocation will take one week (October 4th to 10th). The L.E. Shore Memorial location will be closed for the duration of the repairs, which are estimated to be 6 to 8 weeks. We will have a better estimate of the timeframe once the contractors have an opportunity to lift the roof and see what additional work will be required.

Will Staff Be Affected?

Library staff will be working at the Town Hall location, Craigleith Heritage Depot or various programming locations throughout the community. Staff will continue to offer the exceptional level of service they are known for to our patrons. Town Hall has set up a small office location near the library to allow us to continue administrative functions as well.

What Services Will Be Affected?

Library staff have worked with Community Services to create an amazing library space within the Town Hall, and we have curated a selection of our most popular titles to take with us into the new space. If you can’t find a book from this selection, library staff are always happy to order it for you on inter-library exchange. On-line service will operate normally during the closure.

We will have computer services with full internet capability, Wi-Fi, a cross section of library materials, DVD loans and our other services operating as well.

All groups and activities that operate out of the Library know that their programs are moving to other locations. If you want to double check your particular program, please go to our Events page.

Services will continue to be offered at the Craigleith Heritage Depot. Hours will be extended starting October 11, 2016. Depot staff welcome you to stop by our charming location (kids love it!) and see the museum exhibits while you are here.

When will the New Location at Town Hall Open?

Library services will resume at Town Hall on Tuesday October 11, 2016. The drop box will be relocated to Town Hall for the duration of the roof repairs.

The library will not charge overdue fines accrued during the closure of L.E. Shore Memorial Library. You are welcome to return your books at the Depot drop box in the interim.
