Grey County Reads

Posted: by Ashley on January 5, 2018

We need your help! The Blue Mountains Public Library could win $200 in free books thanks to your votes! Grey County Reads is an exciting competition between five local celebrities, each defending a book that they believe Grey County needs to read right now. YOU will be the judge.

Grey County Reads

Grey County Reads is a competition between the libraries of Grey Highlands, Hanover, Meaford, Owen Sound, Southgate, Town of Blue Mountains and West Grey. Each celebrity will defend one Canadian book over five published installments, covering plot, character, and theme analyses as well as introductory and summary arguments. They will be able to vote using an online voting system. When you visit South Grey News and vote you are entered in a draw for three gift certificate prizes courtesy of Speaking Volumes Books & Audio in Flesherton!

The books being defended are:

The Back of the Turtle: A Novel by Thomas King - defended by Aly Boltman

Crow Lake by Mary Lawson - defended by Sharon Sinclair

The Wonder by Emma Donoghue - defended by Jenny Parsons

Station Eleven: A Novel by Emily St. John Mandel  - defended by Rebecca Hergert

Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley - defended by Kim Peeters

Click the links above to place a hold on any one of these books.

Read any or all of the Grey County Reads books and/or read each of the book synopses and celebrity installments posted on SouthGrey.ca between now and February 11.
