Kobo Touch, Mini, Glo or Aura
Kobo e-Reader, Kobo Touch, Kobo Glo, Kobo Mini and Kobo Aura are dedicated eReaders. You must first download the e-book to a PC or Mac computer and then transfer a borrowed EPUB ebook to your KOBO eReader.
Here are the steps:
Open Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) on your laptop or computer.
Click on the Library button in the upper left hand corner of the Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) software. Titles you have downloaded are displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. If you have a lot of titles in your library, and you want to find only things you have checked out from the library, you may click on the "Borrowed Items" bookshelf on the left-hand side of the screen to isolate library books.
Connect your KOBO. With ADE open, connect your KOBO to your computer via the USB port and select connect to your computer. The first time you do this, ADE should automatically authorize your device with your Adobe ID. It may take a moment for ADE to recognize the hardware. Once your device is recognized, a section on the left-hand side of the ADE screen will appear, entitled "Devices". Your reader will be listed there as a device.
(On a PC, the ereader should be visible if ADE is already open. Depending on your ereader, you may need to close Adobe Digital Editions, plug in your ereader, and then re-open ADE. You may need to restart your computer in order for the reader to be recognized by your system. On a Mac, close ADE. Plug in your ereader, then open ADE. The ereader should be recognized by your system.)
From Library View in ADE, right-click on the book jacket of the title you want to transfer to your ereader. Click on "Copy to Computer/Device" and choose your ereader from the device list. The book will be transferred to the ereader. When you disconnect your ereader, the book will be processed for display on the ereader.
Safely Remove Hardware: On a PC, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the lower right-hand side of your monitor. Then choose "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device" (note: the computer may recognize your device, and the message may read "Remove Kobo eReader", for example). When you see the message "Safe to Remove Hardware", you may unplug your ereader. The ereader should then process the newly downloaded content for reading.
On a Mac, unmount/eject the ereader using the Finder before unplugging. Detach the ereader from your computer.
In some cases, you may need to set your computer to open OverDrive eBook files (.acsm files) in Adobe Digital Editions.
Returning an E-Book Early
In Adobe Digital Editions, choose Library View. Right-click on the book jacket of the item, and choose "Return Borrowed Item". This will remove the item from your account. You will still need to delete the title from your reader to prevent it from taking up space.
