October is a busy month at The Blue Mountains Public Library!

Join us every Friday for a great way to start your weekend!  10:45am-11:30am at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library Story Tower. Ages 0-5 years.  Every week features stories, crafts, games, sensory play and fun.  Drop-in, free event.

Fire Prevention Day with The Blue Mountains Fire Department

Our local heroes, The Blue Mountains Fire Department, will be at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library on Thursday October 12th for Fire Prevention Week 2017. Families are welcome to join us from 3-5pm to see a fire engine up close, meet the fire fighters (and Sparky!) and receive tips about fire safety.Free program for all-ages.  Please register online.

Indie Author Day

Come out and celebrate self-publishing. 2pm on Saturday October 14th at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library with local artist and author, Ashley Green, and her children’s book Lady Sky

Family Movie Matinee: Book to Movie

You've read the book, now watch the movie.  Bring your favourite snacks and get ready to watch a funny & family-friendly new release movie (based on a book) in the L.E. Shore Gallery on Saturday October 21st at 1:30pm. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Register online

Mad Science: Fire and Ice!

We have a special event for Halloween weekend!  Mad Science will be in the L.E. Shore Gallery on Saturday, October 28, at 10:30am for their show Fire and Ice!  Tickets are $2/person and available at both library branches.

Audiences will be dazzled by the spectacular Fire and Ice Show! First things heat up with our disappearing fire. Then help Eggbert, our favourite hefty Mad Scientist in training, get back through his front door. Next, prove that science is really cool with demonstration of freezing cold, subzero dry ice. Listen to a spoon scream, watch a toonie shiver, taste a big burp, and touch exploding foggy bubbles. Finish off with the great Mad Science Shower- photo ops encouraged.

Family event all-ages welcome. Children under 8 must be accompanied by adult.

Mad Science Scavenger Hunt

Win free tickets to the Mad Science: Fire and Ice! show on October 28th by participating in our Mad Science Scavenger Hunt.  Taking place at both L.E. Shore Library and the Craigleith Heritage Depot.  Find all of the science items on the list and be entered into the Mad Science ticket draw.

Hands-On History at the Craigleith Heritage Depot  

Join in some PD Day fun on Friday, October 27. Drop in 1-2:30pm, ages 5 to 12. The theme will be Spooky Stories & Spider Webs!
