Summer Fun for Kids at the Blue Mountains Library

Summer is fast approaching and we are excited to announce our upcoming programs and events.

TD Summer Reading Club

The annual TD Summer Reading Club Program is back and open to all children ages 3 and up.

When the child comes in to register they are given a registration package of recording book, tracking bookmark, and carrying bag with (inside are also additional instructions and contact information about the program).  As the child reads throughout the summer they record each title in their book.  When they come into the library they must bring their log book and tracking bookmark and a staff member will stamp the corresponding number of books on the bookmark. Once the bookmark is filled it is entered in the draw for prizes from local donors including Scenic Caves, Pom Pom by the Bay, and Thornbury Bakery. The more bookmarks you fill, the more chances to win!

Plus, collectively, every book read over the summer will be represented by a coloured square in our giant Canada 150 Flag with the goal to fill the flag by the end of the summer.

Discovery Tuesdays / Every week from 2-3pm

This is a free drop-in program focused on creating a fun and open space to explore and create.  From playing and creating games, to science experiments, STEM, technology, and craft skills we will have diverse programming to offer each week.

Open Chat with Kathryn / Every week 4-5pm

New this year, Kathryn Osborne, summer student and Summer Programs Coordinator will be out in the stacks of the children's section every Thursday 4-5pm for open chats.  This is a drop-in time to answer questions, and hear from parents, children, teens, and families about anything from programs to reading reports.

Special Events

Information regarding any events occurring outside of the programs mentioned above will be added as we approach the event and obtain further information.

Interested in joining in with the kids this summer?  See our At the Library Blog here, for more information on how you can participate with the Summer Book BINGO.  We look forward to see you all this summer.
