Paintings and Creative Interpretations

Large, colourful abstracts by José Etcheverry Orchard

Paintings and Creative Interpretations

Framed drawings and large abstracts bring an explosion of colour and line to the Gallery in May.

Opening reception: Saturday, May 6th, 2-4 p.m.  Show runs for the month of May.

José Etcheverry Orchard studied art in Chile, and taught Drawing and Painting at the Catholic University of Santiago before becoming a Canadian Citizen. He worked at various educational institutions around Ontario, and as an art teacher at St. Basil College School, for twenty years. In 2008, José retired from teaching to dedicate himself to developing his own visual language and personal style.

José remarks about his work in the upcoming show, "In these paintings, I overlap several images, using my own language to interpret and communicate what you are seeing. The resulting paintings are more unpredictable; I enjoy that creative risk, as I can guide the process. The results just happen, as things do in real life."
