#4. Saving Red By Sonya Sones

Posted: by Jaydon on April 22, 2017

Hey Readers! I hope everyone had a lovely Easter! It's been crazy busy even with all this cold weather, although I think there is warmer weather coming. There may be a chance for the trees yet!

#4. Saving Red By Sonya Sones

Copyright: 2016

Genre: Contemporary Verse

If you’re anything like me, you probably think this book is about “Red Riding Hood”,

It’s not. The plot is remarkably well written and I absolutely fell in love with the characters and considering that I wasn’t one for novels in verse, this one definitely changed my attitude about them forever! I was recently speaking with a friend whom I had recommended this book to. She felt that it was a very deep story that wasn’t just about saving Red (pardon the pun), it was about saving Molly too. This thought really struck me as a key point in the novel.  It’s one of my favourites and I hope you like it as much as I did.

Fourteen year old, Molly Rosenberg’s out doing community service for school in the local park when she notices a homeless girl with rusty red hair, who probably isn’t much older than her. She knows that as a part of her volunteering she can’t interfere but she couldn’t stop thinking about her. Molly decides to go back to try and find the girl but she’s already gone. That’s when Molly’s dog, Pixel, started pulling her towards the ferris wheel where she meets Cristo, the boy who happened to get on behind her. They soon realize how much they have in common and take the day to get to know each other. They’re about to part ways when Molly spots the girl with red hair. They introduce themselves and soon learn that her name is Red, she’s an interesting girl who might be the key to Molly’s past. She hopes that Red has a family and makes it her mission to reunite them in time for Christmas. Will Molly succeed in her bringing them together again or will all her work be for naught?  Find out in Saving Red

Happy Reading!
