Circulation Assistant

Permanent, Part-Time (hours/week will fluctuate)

Located within the progressive, four-season community of The Blue Mountains, The Blue Mountains Public Library is an information hub for residents and visitors alike, providing learning opportunities in a variety of mediums.  We strive to continuously offer new, progressive materials and services to meet our users’ ever-changing needs.

Position Overview

  • Reporting directly to the Manager of Public Services, the successful candidate will provide direct service to Library patrons and program delivery as required consistent with the policies, practices and procedures of the Library. This position has some specialized tasks that may include collection development, marketing, technical support and social media.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Two years’ experience in a public library or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Computer skills and working knowledge to include: Microsoft Office.
  • Customer service skills and experience are assets.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and graphic design principles are assets.

  • Help keep the library collection in good order making it easier for staff and patrons to find the information they require.
  • Shelve new and returning library materials

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in high school (homeschool students will also be considered)
  • Must be over the age of 14 years
  • Must be accurate, detail oriented, and possess good organizational skills
  • Experience in public library work or any equivalent combination of experience and training is desirable

  • Hourly Rate: Student Minimum Wage $10.70/hr (increasing to $10.90/hr after Oct 1, 2017)
