Cycling in Canada's Far North: Dawson City to Inuvik on the Dempster Highway

The Dempster Highway is Canada’s most northern all-weather road. It runs all the way from near Dawson City YT, across the Arctic Circle to Inuvik NWT. Each summer intrepid travellers ride the rough gravel road in 4X4s or on motorcycles. A  few – including local resident Brian Nelson – try it by bicycle. Brian will have stories, photos and travel tips from his cycling adventure in this rugged, remote and beautiful corner of Canada.

Sailing the Northwest Passage

In August 2016, Linda Pim, a member of the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Club, spent nine days aboard a Russian research/passsenger ship sailing through the Northwest Passage, retracing the route of the Franklin Expedition.  Linda will share her knowledge of the history and culture of the Northwest Passage, her impressions of Nunavut's stunning landscape, and her understanding of how the Arctic environment is threatened.
There is no charge and all are welcome.
