Library Announces
Closing – Sunday August 22nd to Sunday August 29th 2010
THORNBURY, ON – July 26th, 2010 – The Blue Mountain Public Library Board today announced that the L. E. Shore Memorial Library facility will be closed for a week in August to accommodate renovations. .
In 2009 the Library Board adopted a Space Needs Analysis study which outlined long term space needs for the Library as well as recommending short term solutions to extend the life of the current facility.
“The Study identified the need for more space to accommodate growth in services such as the size of the collection, reading areas and internet stations. We have already secured property at 177 Bruce Street which will allow for an expansion, but that won’t take place for 6 to 8 years,” stated Board Chairperson Cathy Innes. “In the meantime, we need to make a few changes to the work areas for staff and volunteers. The Library is now 15 years old and a great deal has changed in that time, including technology.”
Patrons who wish to return materials during that time can do so by using the exterior book drops located at the front and back entrances to the Library. No fines will be charged on overdue items for the week of August 22nd to August 29th. On-line service will be disrupted during that week as wiring and network services will also be upgraded. The Library will reopen and be back offering full service on Monday August 30th, 2010.
